I’ve just finished testing the KYK Genesis water ionizer in Clearwater, Florida, and got great, FANTASTIC, results!

I’ve had to do a little business and personal traveling last week and this week, so I thought I’d bring two water ionizers along and test them to see how they do. My first stop was Florida. I was so busy, that I could only test one water ionizer, so I picked the KYK [since I'm doing a big project on the KYK Genesis right now]. Circumstances were such that I didn’t even get a chance to hook the KYK up until Saturday [ yesterday] just before it was time for me to leave. My camera was all set to go, then the battery died! So I did test the KYK Genesis water ionizer, but unfortunately I have no video to share with you on this testing. Here’s the chart of the results:

Here’s my analysis:

  • Level 1 seems weak, however if you consider that you’re taking the ORP from a positive 565 and changing it to a negative 40 it is amazing, really.
  • Levels 2 and 3 are just fantastic! To get that high of a negative ORP for your drinking water [without having to jack the pH up too high -- is really, really exemplary!
  • Level 4 [highest alkaline]: This is a little on the weak side, compared with other 7-plate water ionizer testing. Perhaps it has to do with the source water. It’s not bad, but I wouldn’t expect it to emusify oils at that level. So if you intend to soak vegetables to emulsify the pesticides and get your veggies completely free of these pesticides…I’m not sure you can do it unless you got a higher pH than about 11.
  • Low Acid Setting: Again, this is weak with this source water. The KYK was able to get higher extremes [a higher alkaline pH and lower acid pH] on Level 4 in St. Louis than in Florida. This isn’t anything against this particular brand of water ionizer, it has to do with the source water.

Look forward to more testing of the KYK Genesis this week. I plan to test and compare the KYK Genesis water ionizer and the Tyent Turbo water ionizer. So, stay tuned!

I’ve been conducting some tests of the KYK Genesis 7-Plate Water Ionizer and have some more videos and charts to share with you. Click here to read my first videos & blog post, which is of Levels 1 - 3 [both alkaline and acid waters are tested].

In this video I just wanted to re-do the testing at level 3 for the KYK Genesis, because in my last videos…though the results were good for the Genesis, the Melody did equal…or maybe even a little better. This didn’t make sense to me [because the Melody only has 5 plates and the Genesis water ionizer has 7 plates. So, in this re-test, the KYK Genesis had about the same results as in the previous test. pH =  11.04 & ORP = -809.

Here I have another video showing the KYK Genesis water ionizer at levels 2, 3, and 4. The data found is reported in the chart below the video. I have to say I'm disapointed that the KYK Genesis does not have the cleaning cycle that I thought it had. I will have to double-check this with the technicians on Monday, but as you can see in the video, the Genesis water ionizer does go into an acid wash cleaning cycle which requires the user to wait while the water ionizer is cleaning itself. This is probably no big deal for most people, but I like it when I don't have to be inconvenienced with waiting for my water ionizer to clean itself. I think that when children are around [pouring their own water] it’s a good idea to have a water ionizer that cleans itself well without making you wait for an acid wash.

Here’s the Chart:

My thoughts on this KYK Genesis water ionizer so far is that it has a fantastic rH [ORP for the level of pH] at levels 3 and 4. Why level one is not good, I’m not sure. I need to call the technicians anyway to find out why the literature says no waiting is needed for the Genesis water ionizer to clean itself but in fact you do have to wait for the traditional acid wash. I’ll fill you in on the answer to this when I find out. At the same time, I will find out if there are other settings I should have done in the set-up.

Overall, though, this is an awesome water ionizer, and I think it’s better than the Enagic. It appears to be about equal to the Tyent 7070 and Life 7600.

I will be doing more testing of the Enagic [who call themselves the Kangen Water Machine] as soon as I return to St. Louis on about the 1st of Sept. Next week I’ll share a little blurb about the KYK in Florida, and then I’ll do some extensive testing and comparisons of the KYK and Tyent Turbo in South Caronina. I can’t wait to see the differences with different source water! So stay tuned!

This week I have the pleasure and opportunity to compare the KYK Genesis 7-Plate Water Ionizer and the Jupiter Melody Water Ionizer! I’ll be videoing & blogging about it as I go.

This is the first of a series of videos about the KYK Genesis water ionizer. Here’s the first set of 2 videos, entitled: The KYK Genesis 7-Plate and the Jupiter Melody Water Ionizers Compared at Levels 1, 2, and 3. It is a 2-part video.

Table Shows Results of Water Ionizer Comparisons at Level 1, 2, & 3 for the Genesis Water ionizer and the Melody Water Ionizer.

According to the above videos and chart, these two water ionizers are too close to call in the ability to ionize the water at these three levels. I have to say I’m surprised at how well the Melody holds up in these tests with 7-plate water ionizers. This Melody is over 10 months old too…so you can see it’s staying really clean too.

I will do more testing in further posts, plus I will soon be comparing the KYK Genesis with the Tyent Turbo…so stay tuned!

Which is Better? The Chanson VS 70, The Tyent 7070 or the KYK Genesis 7 Plate? And Why?

Tyent 7070 Water Ionizer Silver      KYK Genesis Water Ionizer     Chanson VS 70 Faucet

Water Ionizers Pictured: The Tyent 7070, KYK Genesis 7 Plate & the The Chanson VS 70

A customer came to me with a question today that was sure hard to answer! So, here’s my best stab at it.

I’ve tested the Tyent and KYK, so I know they both give really good ionized water…I’ve seen testing for the Chanson VS 70 which also looks good. These all look like great water ionizers…so which is best?

In this blog post I’ve provided information and my own analysis of the different strengths and features for each water ionizer. You will have to decide which water ionizer feature is most important to you and judge for yourself which water ionizer is best.  Based on the comparisons, below, you should be able to compare the features and strengths of these water ionizers with the features you think are most important to you — and make a decision that way. They’re all close and all HIGH QALITY, though, so I really don’t think you can go wrong with whichever one you decide. Hope this helps!

Size: The Miracle and VS70 water ionizers are so small [if smaller is better to you the Miracle and VS 70 water ionizers would be the winners.]

Cleaning:    ALL ABOUT EQUAL FOR CLEANING

One other thing that’s good to know with cleaning is, you can get an Ionizer Armor to go with any water ionizer to protect the inner cleanliness of your water ionizer so that helps to level the playing field with respect to self-cleaning.

KYK:  Automatic cleaning system – Does “acid-wash” cycle every 30 liters of use. Warns you when it’s washing. You need to continue the water flowing throughout the complete washing cycle. Unit automatically stops water flow when wash is complete and resets it to Level 2.  Automatic draining system – drains water into the electrolysis chamber to enhance cleaning.

Tyent: Automatic acid wash every 5 – 10 min. of use. Warns you when it’s ready to wash. Automatically turns ionizer off when it’s ready for acid wash. You need to push button to start the acid wash and continue the water flowing throughout the complete washing cycle.

Chanson:  Cleaning frequency adjusted to your source water. Automatically occurs after you turn the machine off – never interrupting your water usage. Will automatically go into a flushing cycle each time you turn on your water ionizer.

Plates:   ALL CLOSE TO EQUAL FOR PLATES

KYK:  7 titanium plates slotted then dipped in expensive platinum and baked

Tyent: 7 large mesh plates. Boasts the largest mesh surface area [245 sq. in.] of all water ionizers. Plates are made of a strong titanium slotted mesh then dipped & baked 3 times for an extra thick platinum coating.

Chanson:  7 solid titanium plates are nano plated with platinum using a cutting edge technology which increases the surface area with peaks, valleys and grooves.

Filtration:    KYK WINS FOR FILTRATION!

KYK:  Dual filters with activated carbon and specialized media to filter out even more difficult contaminants like fluoride. [Filter Life = About 1600 Gallons]

Tyent:  Activated Carbon & ceramic plus an ACF Fibre filter. Removes chlorine, lead and other chemicals and adds back good minerals  [Filter Life = About 1000 Gallons]

Chanson: Adjusts filter life according to your source water. [Filter Life = About 1000 Gallons] These are Silver-adding Fiber Activated Carbon Filters (help with Lead reduction): remove lead ions from old pipes and silver-adding which is an anti-bacteria element.

Filter Change Indicator:     CHANSON WINS FOR FILTER CHANGE INDICATOR!

KYK: Automatically sensors — display when to change it.

Tyent: Voice [and LCD indicator] tells you when to change the filter.

Chanson: Filter Life is adjusted to source water, so you always know when it really needs to be changed.

Price:    KYK WINS FOR PRICE! [...ALTHOUGH SO DOES THE MIRACLE]

KYK:  On sale now for $300. off [$1695.00] – Plus you receive over $200.00 of free gifts with purchase.

Tyent MMP 7070:  On sale now for $500. off [1995.00] Plus you receive over $600.00 of free gifts with purchase.

Chanson:  Miracle [countertop] $1650.00  &  VS-70 [under-sink] $2195.00

Power:     TURBO WINS FOR POWER!

KYK:  Variable amperage makes it possible to set your Genesis water ionizer for up to 76 pH/ORP levels. You can customize your pH and ORP to suite your source water. The power supply is SMPS [more advanced than transformers] to accommodate for the needs of the variable amperage.  [110V, 150W]

Tyent: PH adjustability and SMPS power allows for variable pH/ORP levels to accommodate for differences in source water. [110V, up to 235*W] Turbo option can be purchased for the highest wattages [235-285 W]

Chanson: Amperage adjusts automatically to keep alkaline levels consistent. [110V, 5W - 150W]

Water Flow Control:   KYK WINS FOR WATER FLOW CONTROL!

KYK:  Water flow can be controlled automatically to adjust to the quality of the source water and maximize ionization… and your water flow is displayed on the LCD monitor in liters/min.

Tyent:  Water flow can be controlled automatically to adjust to the quality of the source water and maximize ionization.

Chanson:  Flow automatically adjusted to 2.8 liters per minute

Installation:   CHANSON WINS FOR INSTALLATION!

KYK: Comes with stainless steel adaptor to hook up to faucet and connectors if direct hook up to cold water line is preferred. There is no installation DVD that comes with the KYK. Computer chips and wires located on top of each filter makes the KYK filters very much harder to install and could be a weak point in the design. I believe that eventually a KYK water ionizer might stop working if the customer replaces their own filters every year and doesn’t have the technical expertise or manual dexterity to do it right. Here are pictures of the computer chips at the top of the KYK filters:

KYK-Filter-Chip-1KYK-Filter-Chip-2

KYK-Filter-Chip-3KYK-Filter-Chip-4

Tyent: Comes with stainless steel adaptor to hook up to faucet [can also be hooked directly into the cold water line if desired]. People have had difficulty figuring out the technicalities of programming the Tyent to their source water, but have received excellent customer service and had their difficulties satisfied by the technical trouble-shooter at Tyent. There is a DVD for installing which is helpful — but it doesn’t come standard with every order. Make sure you request this DVD when ordering a Tyent.

Chanson:   Miracle [Chanson's 7-plate countertop model] comes with stainless steel adaptor to hook up to faucet & VS 70 has its own beautiful faucet. The VS 70 will obviously be harder to install, because it’s an undersink model, however the Miracle is fairly easy. Chanson water ionizers come with installation CDs. You also get online videos you can watch ahead of time. The Chanson water ionizers get programmed to your source water hardness — so be ready with that information. You can get your water hardness level by calling the phone number on your water bill. There are videos that can guide you in installing the Chanson VS 70 and Miracle. Chanson also does offer excellent customer service to help you fine-tune your installations.

Warranty:  TYENT  WINS FOR WARRANTY!

KYK:  5 Year Parts & Labor

Tyent:  5 Years Parts & Labor [Can purchase 10-year upgrade]

Chanson:  5 Years Parts & Labor

Why Should Your Water Ionizer Be UL Certified? And Which Water Ionizers Are?

First of all, why your water ionizer should be UL certified is for the safety of your home, your loved ones and the environment. Underwriters’ Laboratories (UL for short) tests new consumer equipment for the safety of electrical circuitry, environmental safety, etc. They provide us with a valuable service by doing this. UL has developed over a thousand rigorous safety standards.

What you can do as a customer to protect your family and home is look at the UL symbol in advertizements for products you buy that are electrical. Otherwise the item could start a fire in your home if it contained some sort of sub-standard safety hazard.

Here are the water ionizers that have either existing UL certificates or are pending this certification.

For some reason I’ve ignored the KYK company. I don’t know much about them, and really their website doesn’t have enough information about their manufacturer, history, years in business, how long making water ionizers, etc. And this is probably why I’ve ignored them up till now. However I recently viewed a 2-part video series in which the KYK Genesis, Tyent 7070 and Melody were neck’n'neck with each other on producing high quality alkaline ionized water.  In other words, the KYK Genesis didn’t do badly at all. As far as water ionizers go, I think the KYK Genesis with 7 large platinum-titanium plates and a good self-cleaning system looks great. Here’s an intro video on the KYK Genesis’s features. The features look pretty good.
