Are there any long-term concerns about drinking ionized water?

In Japan and Korea, about 15% or so of the population has been drinking ionized water for over 30 years…some even longer. Many hospitals in both Japan and Korea use water ionizers for both its alkalizing/anti-oxidizing properties for drinking and for its acid properties in healing skin sores.

Innumerable tests have been done on mice, rats, chickens, etc., and in almost every instance there were good results noted and no negative results have ever been able to be replicated. There have been no substantiated incidents of negative long-term effects of people drinking ionized water.

I have personally known people who are cancer-free today primarily because of ionized water. My family and extended family are so much healthier because of ionized water! Over the years I have had hundreds of customers who either have written to me or spoken with me on the phone and told me their stories of how water ionizers have help them and their families so much.

Water ionizers have a bona fide and rightful, life-long place in any family’s healthy home.

As a long-time educator [I was a teacher/principal for over 24 years], I am very interested in educating people [and giving people the straight scoop] about water ionizers. I will not allow myself to sell a product that could do harm or isn’t tested thoroughly enough for safety. I also personally, have been drinking ionized water for over 16 years, along with my family and extended family. I can safely say that I am healthier today, at age 59, than when I started drinking it at age 43! The reason I am selling water ionizers today is because a water ionizer is the one, single, best, health product I have ever purchased. So after retiring from teaching I decided to pursue this passion.

Are there negative reports about ionized water?

There are going to be people who will, no matter what it is that you are advocating, will advocate against it. In every case, when I’ve come across a report I have given it my full attention. One chemist was warning people that ionized water could upset the balance in your colon. It seemed like a silly warning, especially in light of all the colonoscopy work that Dr. Shinya has done to show the great things ionized water does for all of his thousands of patients’ colons [Dr. Shinya is the inventor of the colonoscopy]. But even though the claim seemed silly, I still checked it out on myself.

Just a few months ago my husband and I had comprehensive stool analyses [which showed a perfect supply of good bacteria, zero bad bacteria, zero parasites, and good results in every other way.]

Not only do we feel healthier than ever, but the blood, stool and urine tests my husband and I have done [after drinking ionized water for over 16 years] are showing this as well!

Another health-reporter was worrying people about long-term use [he said short-term use for detoxing was good but not long term...however didn’t specify his reasons]. He hinted at the stomach/colon, and possibly “leaky-gut”, but was elusive [I think he just wanted to sell his newly imported water filters]. So, just last month I had a urinalysis [along with test for leaky-gut] and the comprehensive report showed that all levels for everything tested were perfect. In addition my heart rate and blood pressure were so good the nurse made a comment about how envious she was.

It’s interesting that none of the “authorities” that I’ve run across who have advocated against water ionization have ever actually tried it.

Their reports are obviously flawed in such a way as to show they haven’t much knowledge about water ionizers either. Many health authorities or scientists who HAVE fully checked out water ionizers have concurred with what I know from experience, that the health benefits possible are quite bona fide and even amazing. Here’s a question/answer report of an interview with Ray Kurzweil [inventor/scientist] who did in fact check out water ionizers top to bottom and highly advocates them. http://alkalinewaterplus.info/blog/uploaded/Ray_Kurzweil_Q_A.pdf

How do vitamins fit in with water ionizers?

Another benefit: Since I’ve been drinking ionized water, my intake of vitamins and minerals have lowered. I take a normal amount of vitamins today, but took a greater than normal amount 20 years ago…because I wasn’t as healthy then as I am today. Last year my husband and I had our blood fully analyzed and, just as we knew it would, every level of dozens of things the test covered was perfect.

Medical Uses for Water Ionizers:

There is one particular water ionizer that claims to be the only one suitable for medical uses [such as if a person has cancer or some other condition they are worried about]. This is bogus and absolutely, completely, 100% untrue. The actual fact of the matter is that it is a sales pitch and it is in my opinion bordering on fraud.

Water ionizers, in general, have been approved for manufacturing in 1965 by the Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare as medical equipment to produce medical substances.

In Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, water ionizers are considered as medical devices, but also as water treatment devices. In the U.S., water ionizers are not considered medical devices, and it could be risky for a company to market them as such. Enagic gets away with their marketing, because mostly these claims are being made person to person or in closed group settings. However it is a risky thing to do, and could put the company out of business or at least cause some damage in the way of fines. Several years ago, when I started hearing the claims by Enagic dealers, I decided to find out for myself. I was perfectly willing to switch companies if the Enagic was better. I just wanted to know. I cannot tell you how many times I have tested and retested [and retested and retested] their water ionizer against the other two top water ionizers, the Athena and Tyent water ionizers, as well as other water ionizers, and other than an occasional higher pH [for cleaning water…too high to drink] and a higher flow-rate [which in my opinion is not a good thing…because the filtration suffers when the flow-rate is too fast] the Athena is better. The Tyent is probably tied…but the warranty is better with the Tyent and so is the price.

For long-term use, when is it best to consume ionized water?

It is best to consume ionized water away from mealtimes if your meal contains meat. Some also suggest to not drink it while taking medications [vitamins are fine though]. A good rule of thumb is for 20 min. before and 20 min. after meals or taking medications, drink little or no alkaline water. If you like to drink water with meals containing meat, then I suggest you squeeze a slice of lemon into your ionized water and you’ll change the pH of it to acidic or just drink filtered water. The reason for this is that during the initial phases of digestion your stomach needs to maintain a more acidic environment [in particular if your meal contains meat].

How do You Know You’re Getting the Best Quality of Water Ionizer?

One way is to compare the water ionizer’s ORP per Unit of PH: Not all ionizers will give a good ORP at lower pH levels, such as at pH settings of 8 or 8.5. That’s why I’ve done extensive testing of both the pH and ORP of all of the leading water ionizers. I have also tested ionizers in a variety of different locations, so I could get an idea of how source water affects the ORP at the various pH levels.

Why Would People Need the Lower PH Settings of 8 or 8.5?

People whose diets are mostly fruits and vegetables are probably more naturally alkaline and may need to set their ionizers to give them pH levels of about 8 or 8.5. Also, depending on the pH level of your incoming water, some water comes in at already a 8 – 9 pH. In this case, the ionizing of water is still very beneficial, because ORP [oxidation reduction potential, or antioxidant value of the water] delivers over 50% of the health benefits from water ionization.

People whose diets are fairly typical of US, with several trips to a fast food restaurant per week and/or more than 40% of food intake [visually] is from meat and grains will probably be more acidic and need higher pH settings for their ionized water, such as a pH of 9 or 10.

Which are the Best Water Ionizers?

It probably depends a little on your source water [where you live], but I’ll give you a very brief summary of what I’ve found to be the best water ionizers.

Medium-Hardness Water Areas: The best ionizer I’ve found for giving high ORP per unit of pH in medium-hardness water areas is the Athena water Ionizer [and also its under-sink equivalent, the Delphi]. The Tyent is also good, as well as the Enagic, Miracle Max or VS70, in that order, although these perform better at the higher [too high to drink] pH settings and do not get as good ORP per unit of pH in the lower pH settings. The Enagic is not good at getting lower PH levels when the source water is too alkaline to begin with. You can do it, by increasing the flow-rate and reducing the power-setting, but then the ORP is not good.

Soft Water Areas: The ionizer needs to work harder in soft water areas to bring the pH level up. Some water ionizers are more suited to this. The best ionizer I’ve found for giving high pH and ORP in extreme soft water areas [such as BC, Canada, or Washington state] is the Chanson Miracle Max or VS 70 water ionizers. The Athena or Delphi water ionizers are good if you set the pH-Boosting setting up to the highest level, and add a mineral filter to one of the filter ports. In this case you will get fantastic ORP per unit of pH in soft water areas, better than the Miracle Max, however you may not be able to get much higher than an alkaline value of 9.5 or 10 pH or much lower than an acidic potential of 4 or 5 pH [for cleaning purposes]. The Tyent and Enagic water ionizers are great too, probably equal to the Athena for drinking pH-levels, if you add a Remineralizer. In all cases, if you have extremely soft water [either because you have reverse osmosis or if you live in an extreme soft-water area, I recommend using a Remineralizer for the best results. With the addition of a Remineralizer or two, you can boost your incoming hardness to any desired amount.

Very Hard Water Areas: In very hard water areas, such as Arizona or Vegas, or in the case of very hard well-water, it is difficult to use any water ionizer to its full potential unless you do something to fix your source water first. For instance, you may be able to get decent drinking water, but may not be able to get any acid water lower than a pH of 5 or 6. The best results would come from reducing your source water to medium-hardness levels before ionizing it. I have had very good reports from people who have used the Reverse-Osmosis-Remineralizer-System to treat their water prior to ionization. The only down-side to this is the amount of water you are likely to be able to use at any given moment is about 1 ½ gallons. After that, you will need to wait about a half hour before you can pour more. The second-best fix for water that is extremely hard is the Spartan Ionizer Shield. I have several very good reports from happy customers about this product. The Spartan Ionizer Shield pre-filtration system doesn’t reduce your water flow or quantity, and it cuts the hardness in about half. If you use a whole-house softener [which uses sodium or potassium] the Spartan Ionizer Shield wouldn’t be the right product, though. The only effective filtration for sodium or potasium is reverse osmosis.

After over 16 years of drinking alkaline ionized water, I can say with conviction that the very best thing I could give to myself or a loved one is a WATER IONIZER! Give yourself and your family the gift of health this year!

Ionized water has to, obviously, go through the stomach after we drink it.  With hydrochloric acid, or gastric juices in the stomach, my question with this series of experiments was “Which Ionizer will produce more stable, drinkable, thoroughly ionized water?”

I have tested the Athena water ionizer before, adding drops of apple cider vinegar to it, to simulate the ionized water passing through the stomach.  But, I was curious as to any differences I might see in the results of this experiment with the Tyent water ionizer and the Enagic SD501 water ionizer.  The reason I chose these two other water ionizers was they typically will get pH/ORP results that are similar to the Athena water ionizer.

The way I conducted this experiment, was to measure the pH and ORP at level 3 (for the Enagic it is called “Kangen water 9.5”) of each of these water ionizers.  Then I added drops of vinegar to the ionized water.

On the first chart below you can see I started out with one drop of vinegar added.  After that I added two more drops (see second chart).

All the videos are located below with the charts along with my analysis and conclusions following.

Analysis and Conclusions

Enagic Water Ionizer: The Enagic water ionizer was tricky to work with because it wanted to produce stronger levels of pH than I felt was good for a person to consume.  However, whenever I produced lower, more acceptable drinking levels of pH with the Enagic water ionizer, it was also accompanied by what I felt was too low of a strength of water ionization (ie., the ORP was too weak).  When using those weak settings, the results of adding drops of vinegar were very poor.  The only time I could get decent results with the Enagic water ionizer was when I used a slower flow rate.  The problem with this was the pH came out so high that in my opinion the ionized water was too high for drinking.

Tyent Water Ionizer: The Tyent water ionizer had excellent results when I added one drop of apple cider vinegar.  However, by the time it had been sitting there for a few minutes, the ORP was showing signs of instability.  When I added two more drops of vinegar, it went to a very low ORP.

Athena Water Ionizer: The Athena water ionizer had excellent results.  It retained its excellent ORP even after adding the two extra drops of vinegar.

It’s difficult to draw conclusions from one test, but I have to say that I am once again very pleased with the result of the Athena water ionizer.  I will definitely be doing more testing in the future though as I really was expecting the Enagic and the Tyent water ionizers to do better in this water ionizer comparison test.

After over 16 years of drinking alkaline ionized water, I can say with conviction that the very best thing I could give to myself or a loved one is a WATER IONIZER! Give yourself and your family the gift of health this year!

Today we are doing a taste test between the Enagic SD501 water ionizer, the Athena water ionizer, the Tyent 7070 Turbo water ionizer and St Louis tap water.

We are testing with three different people.  They will be blind folded so as to eliminate any bias each one might have toward a particular water source.

We are going to show you each video as we go along for the sake of full disclosure and so that you can make your own conclusions from observing yourself.  Keep in mind there are modifications to and conclusions made from this experiment as we go along.

In each video we are rating the taste of the water on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being the worst tasting and 10 being the best tasting.

Enagic

6 7   6.5

The Enagic did not test very well in the taste test. However I realized that I had not checked the pH of any of the water samples.  So after this video we tested the pH of all of the ionized water.

Modifications Needed

After this initial testing I checked the pH of all the water we were tasting.  Here’s a table of what the pH was after the video for each water source.  After seeing the higher pH for the Enagic, I concluded that this might have effected the results of the Enagic water ionizer’s taste test.

In the following videos I attempt to control the pH variable. After redoing the taste testing with all water ionizers at the same pH level (see chart below) the Enagic still did not do as well as the other water ionizers.

For the sake of condensing the information contained in these videos, I am only putting the average score from each taste tester for each water source.

Final Conclusion

The results are actually quite amusing.  They are not very decisive and even within one taste test on one person, it seems to not have any real pattern.  But, I guess that’s what you get when you are doing an experiment based on someone’s opinion.

It looks like the Athena wins out with St Louis tap water as a close second.

You can watch the videos yourself and conclude as you wish.

Note: We are lucky in St Louis to have such good tasting tap water.  That may have influenced the results of these tests.

Today I had the pleasure to test two great water ionizers, the Enagic $3800 Water ionizer [the SD 501] and the Jupiter Athena water ionizer.

The results were close, but the Athena was a bit better in levels 2 and 3 [which I feel are the most important levels, because they are the levels that most people drink at].

The Athena has a better design than the Enagic — more sophisticated and efficiently designed. Jupiter Athena is Jupiter’s highest-end water ionizer. It is a tried-and-true water ionizer design, that has been around for many years. It has come out top in many water ionizer comparison tests, including the ones done by Silver State Labs [an independent certified lab]. The filtration in the Athena is exceptional along with the internal self-cleaning system, called the DARC [double automatic reverse cleaning] cleaning system. The Athena also has a better warranty than the Enagic’s 5-Year Warranty.

Here are the videos, chart, and commentaries for today’s water ionizer comparisons:

10/29/ Enagic/Athena-1 Enagic Athena
Level 1  pH/ORP

10.5/-780  Better

9.7/+3

Level 2   pH/ORP/rH

11 /-805 / 1.83

10.4 /-710 / 3.8 Better because the water’s more drinkable

Level  3   pH/ORP/rH

11.3 / -825 / 1.77

11.1 / -817 / 1.63 [Tiny bit better]

Level 4   pH

11.4  Better [for emulsifying oils]

11.2

Acid   pH

2.8

2.5  Better [for killing germs faster]

Here are my comments about today’s water ionizer comparisons:

  • Enagic’s results at level 1 were higher, but the pH was too high for most people starting in at drinking ionized water.
  • The Athena’s ORP at level 2 was almost as good as the Enagic’s but with a far more drinkable pH. Same for level 3.
  • The Enagic had a slightly higher pH at the highest level [this was without the aid of any chemical], but both water ionizes’ high alkaline results were plenty high enough to emulsify oils.
  • The Athena had a slightly better low acidic pH [without the aid of chemicals], but both water ionizers’ low acid pH results were plenty low enough to kill germs.

This was part 4 of a series of water ionizer comparison tests that I am calling Water Ionizer Face-Off. So far I have compared…

* Background… Scientifically Comparing Water Ionizers: To scientifically compare water ionziers you need to understand the term, rH [relative Hydrogen], and how important it is to comparing water ionizers. You can’t always look at numbers and figure it out which one is the best ORP per unit of pH easily. Therefore it’s helpful to have a formula to help you do that. RH is simply a measure of negatively charged Hydrogen per unit of pH in your water.  The smaller the number [rH closer to zero], the better [healthier & more anti-oxidizing] the water is. On a scale from 0 to 42, above 28 is oxidizing (higher potential to damage the closer it gets to 40) and below 28 is reducing (anti-oxidizing)…the lower [closer to zero] the better. RH is the best measure of the healthiness of that ionized water.

The formula for rH is: rH = (ORP + 200) / 30 + 2 * pH

Today I compared the Jupiter Melody water ionizer against the Enagic LeveLuk SD 501 water ionizer!

What great water ionizer comparison results I got… and I’m sharing these results here in this article.  I am somewhat surprized that the Jupiter Melody water ionizer compares so well, although I have tested the Melody water ionizer against the Enagic Kangen machine before and got good water ionizer comparitive results then. It is a nice surprize all over again that these two very popular water ionizers compare this closely, because of the extreme price difference. Below, the results show it was nearly a tie. Level 3 drinking level of ionized water was particularly tied. You could barely get that close even if you tested a water ionizer against itself. The acidic water capabilities of the Enagic are better, but there is chemical added which in my eyes is not needed [The Enagic is able to get a stronger acidic water partially due to the solution that is added during the strong acid setting.] Personally, I don’t see anything too shabby about the 3.0 pH the Melody was able to get all by itself without the chemical. Anything under 4 pH kills germs…it just kills them faster the lower the pH. All-in-all I am very impressed with the Melody water ionizer while at the same time not unimpressed with the Enagic Kangen machine. What I’ve found with my water ionizer testing is that several water ionizers will give you these great results…and I’m thankful that they do!

Both water ionizers are well-made and function without difficulty. Both waters are pleasant tasting, although the filtration of the Jupiter water ionizers is far superior to the out-of-date Enagic’s filtration. The Jupiter Melody water ionizer also has a better system of self-cleaning in that it reverses polarity every time you turn the water on [versus every so many liters]. This is why the Melody water ionizer stays so squeaky-clean year after year. I’ve seen a 5-year-old Melody beat a brand new KYK water ionizer one time in a test series being conducted by the KYK main importer at the time. Both of the water ionizers use fine, highest quality materials and have exceptional customer service [although the warranty for the Melody is far superior ...with a lifetime warranty on parts]. And…

The Melody Water Ionizer is only $1595.00!

I’ve included the 2-part video here so you can see the tests yourself, verify the results are recorded correctly and verify that I had the water flow rate the same for both water ionizers. I also included pictures showing that the pH meter was callibrated ahead of time and the St. Louis tap water was 9.3 pH and +203 ORP just prior to the testing. I’ve also constructed a chart showing all the levels of water ionizer comparison, below the videos.

Alkaline Water Plus has a great water ionizer comparison competition planned for the next few weeks or months, which I am calling ”Water Ionizer Face-Off”. Water ionizers will compete with other water ionizers one-by-one. We’ll cycle through a variety of one-on-one water ionizer competitions so that each pair of water ionizers is eventually fully compared with each other. Hopefully the results will show a general idea of where each water ionizer stands in comparison with the others and this information will add to the general knowledge about these water ionizers. I won’t be testing water ionizers that I feel are poor in any way, which cuts out a lot of water ionizers. Just the fact that I’m including an ionizer in this competition means I think it’s a good and worthy water ionizer to begin with.

Why do these water ionizer comparisons at all?

First of all, I think these water ionizer comparisons are necessary to real information to light and dispel myths, and there are many, regarding what makes a water ionizer a great one. Since I’ve been drinking and benefiting from ionized water for 18 years, I have unshakable knowledge about the benefits of drinking ionized water. My whole family has benefited right before my very eyes with a 5-plate water ionizer [which isn't even being made anymore....but is still working after all these years]. Since more recently [in the past few years] I’ve tried better water ionizers, I’m now sold on the health benefits of spending more to get the best water ionizer. However the best water ionizer is not the one that costs the most or has the biggest plates or most watts of power necessarily. There are many factors which go into the overall design and effectiveness of a water ionizer. I honestly think that the biggest factor in the success of a water ionizer is the overall engineering design of that water ionizer. I’m not swayed by myths though, because what I’m looking for is results. The overall design of a water ionizer can be actually tested to see the results, and that’s what I do and why I do it. The best water ionizer in my eyes is the one which will give you the best negative ORP per unit of pH [especially at the level I drink]. If two water ionizers are about the same in that respect, then I look at other things [such as filtration, self-cleaning system, warranty and appearance]…but that’s for another time. What I’m doing now is testing them for pH and ORP at their various levels and calculating the ORP per unit of pH. I’ve tested all of these water ionizers before, but am testing them again more slowly, and closely this time, looking at the quality of ionized water at each level.

Today is Day #1 of the Water Ionizer Face-Off Competition, and our water ionizer contestants are…

The Tyent Turbo vs. the Enagic LeveLuk SD 501 Water Ionizers!

Here are the videos for today’s water ionizer comparison face-off round between the Tyent Turbo and the Enagic SD 501, followed by a chart and commentary about the results.

Water Ionizer Face-Off: Tyent Turbo vs. Enagic Kangen Water

10/21/10 Turbo/Enagic1 Tyent Turbo Enagic
Level 1 pH/ORP/rH/Rating

8.8 /+150/ 29.27 Neither are good.

10.1 / -70/ 24.53  Neither are good.

Level 2

10.1 / -737 / 2.3 BETTER because the pH is more drinkable

11 / -809 /1.7

Level  3

10.8 / -800 /1.6 BETTER because the pH is more drinkable

11.2 / -822 /1.67

Level  4

11.5 Better for emulsifying oils

Acid

2.4

1.9 BETTER, but irrelevant. Both will equally kill germs.

Here are my comments about round one of the water ionizer face-off:

  • These results, above, are really close. Both of these water ionizers are strong and capable, as you can see, with the great ionization shown in the chart and video. But I’m going to call this in favor of the Tyent. The reason I’m saying Tyent wins, is that at Level 3 [Kangen water 9.5], which is the most popular level for drinking, both ORPs are fantastic, but the Tyent’s pH is more drinkable.
  • Also at Level 2 [another "most popular" drinking level] the Tyent has a lower, more drinkable, pH and a fantastic, negative ORP.
  • The acid water for both water ionizers is low enough to kill germs on contact. So even though the Enagic comes in better for acidity at their lowest acid level it is almost irrelevant. 2.4 pH kills on contact. You can’t kill germs any faster than that unless you’re going to kill them before you spray them with the acid water [joke].
  • Level 1 is not too good on either water ionizer.

There are more to water ionizers than just pH and ORP. ORP, however is very beneficial if you can get a high ORP per unit of pH. I have personally seen spider veins dissappear right before my very eyes when I switched to a better [high-ORP] water ionizer. For this reason I personally believe that ORP is a very important factor of ionized water and should be looked at in comparing water ionizers.

Background:

Scientifically Comparing Water Ionizers: To scientifically compare water ionziers you need to understand the term, rH [relative Hydrogen], and how important it is to comparing water ionizers. You can’t always look at numbers and figure it out which one is the best ORP per unit of pH easily. Therefore it’s helpful to have a formula to help you do that. RH is simply a measure of negatively charged Hydrogen per unit of pH in your water.  The smaller the number [closer to zero], the better [healthier & more anti-oxidizing] the water is.

This picture shows the meters used were calibrated with 7.01 and 10.01 scientific calibration solution.

The Tyent and Enagic water ionizers’ flow control issues can be a problem, but they’re not so hard to solve.

Several water ionizers have flow-control issues [e.g., Tyent, Jupiter Orion, KYK Generation II, & Genesis Platinum], but the Tyent and Enagic are being featured in this article. The PH and ORP of your ionized water are obviously important to you when you are drinking that ionized water. For several reasons it is very desirable to be able to fine-tune the water flow rate of your water ionizer. Why?

  • Some water ionizers will not give you desirable water flow rates if hooked directly to your plumbing, so they are typically thought to only be able to hook to a faucet with a diverter. The KYK and Enagic are good examples of this. If you hooked either of these directly to your plumbing the flow rate on the KYK would be 3 liters/min [which isn't so bad, but you wouldn't be able to get the better pH/ORP ranges that the KYK is known for.] The Enagic would come out at 6-8 liters/min. and your results would be much reduced from the Enagic’s capabilities.
  • New water ionizer owners want to gradually build up to higher levels of pH and ORP. An ability to finely control your water flow rate will help you to do that.
  • It’s nice to be able to just turn on the faucet and get your ionized water without thinking about the water flow rate, because you have already pre-set the flow rate. Using a simple device you can do that. The few seconds this saves you every time you pour your ionized water will add up to minutes and hours over time.
  • If you compare two water ionizers side-by-side, it is essential and crucial to the results to get those flow rates exactly the same.

When a water ionizer doesn’t come with a flow control knob, then most people think their only option is to rely on the faucet to control their water flow. Not so. Watch the following two videos to see what the use of a simple “Quick-Connect” water flow-rate valve can do for your water ionizer’s pH and ORP performance.

This intro video shows two kinds of Quick-Connect water flow rate valves.

The following videos show the pH and ORP of the Tyent Turbo and the Enagic ionized water at slow, medium and fast flow rates.

This chart shows Enagic and Tyent water ionizers’ performance at Level 3 [Kangen Water 9.5] at varying flow rates:

How Great are Water Ionizer Mesh Plates? Are they Better? Do Mesh Plates Ionize the Water Better?

Many water ionizers are using mesh plates today. It used to be that all water ionizers used solid plates, and of course there used to be very little selection of different water ionizer companies [and models] as there are today. We benefit from the vast array of water ionizer companies and large amount of competition in water ionizer selling, but on the same token, we can become too bombarded with INFORMATION too! This makes things confusing for people wanting to buy a water ionizer.

These wide varieties of choices, though, don’t bother me in the least. Why?

Because I’ve been drinking ionized water for so long (over 16 yrs.) that I’ve seen it all. I’ve been there and done that…so to speak, and the results are: no matter how you design & re-design water ionizers, they are going to give you great, healthy water. It’s like comparing TV brands. Some people are going to be more concerned with buying the absolute best TV and others won’t worry about it. Sometimes you just won’t know until the first “new design” breaks down. Just about all TV owners enjoy watching great TV for years, and when the new technology comes along, might trade in the old for the new…or keep the old one till it breaks. The person who spent hours, days or weeks making sure they got the very best deal, may get a better deal, but he may also get a lemon. It’s happened.

The fact is: the least expensive water ionizer I sell is twice as good as the water ionizer I started out with!

My first water ionizer, back in 1993, cost me $1,100.00 — expensive! But it was a much less well-designed water ionizer. The point of me saying this is …from the time I started drinking ionized water, I ceased to have allergies, colds, ear infections, strep throats, or anything at all negative [health-wise]. That’s with an inferior water ionizer!

We’ve had our new Melody now for about 9 months, and I have noticed that some spider veins that were appearing on my right leg are now going away. This is probably the negative ORP that’s doing this. The Melody water ionizer I have now gets about three times as good ORP as my old Ange water ionizer. So, the newer models, with the better ORP are a great plus! But, the bottom line is, all the water ionizers I sell are great…& so don’t worry so much! My one suggestion is to stay within your budget.

You don’t have to spend $4000. on a water ionizer.

The Kangen water ionizer people [Enagic] will tell you that they have the best water ionizer and that’s because they have the most expensive one. Enagic will tell you how you have to have their water ionizer if you want the miraculous health benefits. However this is not true. All good water ionizers (which are the only water ionizers I sell) will give you similar miraculous health benefits. As a matter of fact, most of the research the Kangen Co. uses to sell their water ionizers was done with other brands of water ionizers [not the Enagic]. The majority of actual researchers they site are from years prior to the Enagic brand even being invented. The Enagic has only been out for 5 yrs. [since 2004] , so it’s ridiculous to think that all the 30 prior years worth of miracles didn’t happen.

The guy who started the Jupiter Co., for instance, was a multi-millionare whose health was failing. A friend introduced him to a primitive version of a water ionizer [this was about 30 yrs. ago] and within a year this man [Michael Moon] had regained his health. Now he was both rich AND HEALTHY. Guess which one he felt was better to be? That’s right! Healthy! So, people have been experiencing these miracles.

The only thing is that most of these people have not been Americans…due to the suppression of new natural health technology in America by the tycoons who profit from medicines, etc. Natural healing solutions tend to be suppressed in this country. So, the concept is very new to most people in this country.

When searching out the water ionizer you want to buy, keep alert for tricky sales techniques. On one website I was on this morning I found some pretty big untruths [AKA: Lies]. Not just one…several.

  • The author stated that Life Water Ionizers had a choice of solid plates as an upgrade to their normal mesh plates. The author was very clear in saying that you had to pay extra for solid plates! Wow! Not TRUE! It’s actually the opposite: you have to pay an extra $100. for mesh plates in any Life water ionizer.
  • The same author was saying that the Jupiter people made their mesh plates in large sheets, then electroplated them, then punched them and cut them. Again…Big Untruth! This guy was truly sincere sounding too! He was trying to make it seem that the Jupiter plate safety was in question. NOT TRUE AT ALL. Jupiter is the leader in electrode plate safety. The reality is that the Jupiter Co. stamps and cuts each plate first and one-by-one electroplates these mesh plates AFTER the cutting process. So every square fraction of a mm of surface area of the electrode is covered with a computer-accurate even coating. This ensures perfect plating to use for perfect water ionization. He also said the plates were made in Korea…not true…they’re made in Japan. Why he made such a deal about this was beyond me. Yikes! This author was either very sloppy in his lack of research or intentionally deceptive. Very bad show!
  • The same guy, obviously an Enagic advocate (the author), was describing how awful electroplating was and how you needed to dip the plates for the best coating. The fact is …dipping the plates causes an uneven coating and is not a scientific way to coat the plates. This is why the Enagic company does not get as good pH and ORP for their ionized water, even though they have higher wattage and larger plates. They’re just not using as well-designed and engineered of a process as Jupiter.

I still sell the Enagic water ionizers, though. Don’t get me wrong…they’re great. But, so are all my other water ionizers…great!

When it comes to a choice between mesh plates and solid plates, I think that as long as your water ionizer has a great self-cleaning system, either type of plate will be good. Mesh will get a bit better pH and ORP, but usually costs more. The solid plate may last longer, but I don’t know. I know solid plates properly plated will last over 20 years…maybe over 30. However mesh plates are a newer technology. The theory (held by PHD scientists) is that the mesh plates will hold up as well as the solid plates.

Jupiter has a far better self-cleaning system, so that’s a company I tend to recommend more than Enagic. They sell both the Melody (with solid plates) and the Athena (with mesh plates). I like the Melody for the reason it ionizes really well (with great pH & ORP), cleans itself really, really well, AND it’s only $1,395.00.

I want to be able to know that my electrodes are free of scaling [calcium build-up] at all times…not just once every 6 months. That’s my bottom line.

For pH and ORP, [and more importantly: relative Hydrogen -- rH] though, the Athena outperforms all the others to date. Will the plates hold up as well as the solid plates? For that, we’ll all have to wait and see.

I just can’t say enough great things about the Melody water ionizer. Of course I really can’t say enough about all water ionizers (the good water ionizers) for that matter. But the Melody water ionizer stands out above the rest in so many ways. The first way is the price: $1,395. With 5 platinum coated titanium plates…that price is incredible! Platinum costs over $950.00 per ounce! This water ionizer is build so well and so cost-effectively, that they can offer this kind of quality of water ionizer to regular people!!!! Almost anyone can afford $1,395.00, especially if it can be broken down into 10 monthly, no-interest, payments like we do on our website! That’s only $135.00 per month. These machines last over 20 years [they're warranteed for 5 years]!

And if people want to do what we do with our water ionizers…as a newer model of water ionizer comes along–give the older model to a son or daughter or parent…the lower price makes this kind of giving (sharing) possible for us, and I bet for others too.

The second way the Melody water ionizer is so great is the quality. I think all water ionizer professionals would agree that the one way to test the quality of a water ionizer is to test the quality of the water it produces. I’ve personally tested the quality of the Melody many times. I’ve tested (personally) the Enagic (which sells for $3,800.00) too. And I was really surprized that the Melody did better than the Enagic.

Another way to test a water ionizer is for durabiltiy. Does it continue to give the same quality water month after month over time? My Melody’s water quality has remained consistent so far. Also, from the words of the tech-guys in the warehouse…the Melody truly stands up over time. I don’t personally have years and years of experience yet on the Melody, but the design (especially the self-cleaning with each use) is a great one and will probably mean that the plates won’t get the calcium build-up associated with reducing the quality of ionized water over time. That’s the reason the engineers and PHD scientists at Emcho Tech designed their Melody and their other newer water ionizers this feature.

Finally, how trustworthy and reliable is the company that makes the Melody water ionizer? They are very trustworthy! They have over 20 PHD scientists on their development team; they’ve been around for over 30 years — making water ionizers all that time; and they’ve made a name for themselves as having the best water ionizers world-wide so far.  If you look at any Jupiter model water ionizer, you’ll see how well-build it looks too. It doesn’t look hand-made or put together with nuts & bolts….it’s really professionally built, water-tight, sealed, & solid. It’s built to be a work-horse. That’s what I’m looking for in a water ionizer! And I’m going to guess that those are the reasons why the Melody is the most popular water ionizer in the world right now.

By the way, I’m still waiting for my new Venus water ionizer to be delivered. It’s been backlogged for a while…so I have to be patient. Once it comes I’ll test it right away and let everyone know the results. Good or bad…it may be an even better deal than the Melody, but the results will speak for themselves. Whatever the results, I know one thing about the Melody that beats out the Venus already [and that's the fact that the Melody self-cleans constantly -- without going into a cleaning mode, and it self-cleans also on the back-end (after you turn off the water-flow)]. Those are important features for any unit you plan to install under your sink, and it’s very convenient to never have to wait for the cleaning cycle to do its thing.

In the internet world of many claims and who knows who to believe, it’s nice to get some statistics you can bite your teeth into. These laboratory tests are undeniable, although I would run the water through the machines a bit slower.

This video shows Dr. Anthony Francis, PHD, and his assistants working for Silver State Analytical Laboratories in Las Vegas, Nevada testing seven top-name alkaline water ionizers. All of  their reports are certified and have fulfilled rigorous standards for scientific testing. This is a really well done video.

Here are Dr Francis’s results as seen in the video:

Lab Test Results in the Order Shown on Video:

                                            pH                   ORP

Lab Results With Added Data of rH and Price (in the order of best results):

[Highlighted in red are what look like the best deals according to the results vs the price.]

                                           rH*                  Price

Athena                               0.68                 $2,095.00

Tyent MMP7070               0.94                 $2,495.00

Enagic Leveluk SD 501      6.3                   $3,980.00

Isis (Melody)                     6.37                  $1,395.00

KYK 9040 Harmony        9.56                  $1,199.00

Tyent MMP5050             20.08                 $1,895.00

Life 7500                         22.62                 $1895.00

Tap Water (NV)              30.19                    Free

*rH is “relative Hydrogen”. Many now believe that this is the most important factor contributing to good health.  Note: To find rH one uses pH and ORP measurements plugged into a formula. The formula is:  rH = ((ORP + 200) / 30) + (2 * pH). On a scale from 0 to 42 above 28 oxidizing (higher potential to damage the closer it gets to 40) and below 28 is reducing (anti-oxidizing)…the lower the better.
