Here’s some direct links for you to get more information:
I don’t want to make reverse osmosis sound too easy, but it’s not very hard.
You need to know what you’re doing though, so for anyone considering setting up a reverse-osmosis-remineralizer-system to use with their water ionizer, this is a must-see! Setting up a reverse osmosis system is something that is done once and then attended to only rarely, if you do the job right in the first place.
Take your time and know before you go on installing an RO.
A word of warning: A leak in your water line at any point in your set-up can cause untold damage to your house if it went unnoticed. So, be careful when setting up your RO system and get a plumber or handy-man if you’re still not sure of the instructions once you read and watch them.
Some people must use a reverse osmosis system. Who? Why?
People who have water that is so hard or full of dissolved solids that otherwise they couldn’t get good ionized water from their water ionizer.
People who want their water to be the cleanest, purest ionized water possible with only the best organic minerals in it.
IonLife has a reverse osmosis system that was specifically designed to work well with a water ionizer. It won’t work perfectly with all water ionizers though. If the ionizer has a 3/8 inch water feed line, then it’s likely that its flow rate is too great to work well with a reverse osmosis. Also, if the watts are over 185, it’s doubtful that you’ll be able to slow down your water ionizer enough to be a good match for reverse osmosis. Check with your sales associate before you buy a water ionizer if you have a reverse osmosis.
Not every reverse osmosis has a sufficient amount of water flow, pressure, and mineralization to be compatable with a water ionizer. If you already own a reverse osmosis system, check with us to see if your RO will work with a water ionizer and also to make sure you have a good enough remineralizer.
In this blog post we are giving you a set of instructions that you will be able to follow much more easily. The videos along with the descriptions, below, are meant to outline, sequence and clarify the IonLife’s instructions in the above pdf.
RO Instructions Made Easy [Watch videos, below, for clarification]
1. Check the air pressure in the RO tank and make sure it’s adjusted to 13 psi
2. Install the ball valve to top of RO tank [use plumber’s tape -- see video & instructions]
3. Install the Drain Clamp [see instructions], and hook the black drain hose to the the RO [see video & instructions' diagram]
4. Install the “shut off” for the red “water feed” line and hook the water feed hose to the input side of the double filter housing.
5. Install a short hose from the “out” side of the double filter housing to the auto shut-off valve. [see diagram]
6. Hook up the yellow hose between the auto shut-off valve and the ball-valve of the tank.
7. Check the system for leaks.
a. Double-check every connector to make sure all are pushed in completely. Also check the tightness of the filter housings.
b. Install a simple output shut-off in the line going to the ionizer or connect the water output hose to the RO faucet that came with your RO system and use that as a shut-off.
c. Turn the tank ball-valve to “off” and the output shut-off to “off”
d. Turn the water on at the input shut-off.
e. Check the system thoroughly for leaks. Wait 10 minutes …check again.
8. Turn output shut-off to “on”to check if water flow is good…let the system drain for a few minutes then turn it back off.
9. Fill the tank. Do this by turning the output shut-off to “off” and turn the ball-valve to “on”.
10. Wait 2 hours while tank fills completely.
11. Open the output shut off [in the “on” position] so as to drain the entire tank. Wait an hour.
12. Stop draining the system by turning the output shut-off to the “off” position.
13. Now the output hose can be connected to the ionizer.
…and what are the best water ionizer comparison tests and testers out there?
Other than my own water ionizer comparison videos, one of the best water ionizer comparison videos ever put out was the following one from Silver State Laboratories in Nevada. It would be definitely nice if more labs did more testing and comparing of water ionizers. The results of the testing are certified and available at the following link: http://alkalinewaterplus.info/blog/uploaded/silverstatelabreport.pdf
What makes this a great video is the fact that it was done by certified water analysis lab technicians who were impartial to any of the water ionizers tested. What I don’t like about this series of water ionizer comparisons is the focus only on testing the highest levels of each water ionizer. The results of the comparisons in the video are shown in the following chart:
Here’s the video followed by a chart describing the results:

According to this series of tests, the two top water ionizers were The Athena and the Tyent 7070. The next best water ionizers were Enagic and Melody. These tests are not unlike my own testing results when I do water ionizer comparisons. What is somewhat different about my water ionizer comparisons, though, is the fact that I never just focus on the highest setting of the ionizers. The highest settings are usually used just for cleaning purposes. That’s why when I do water ionizer comparisons I usually test all of the levels. Here are examples of water ionizer comparisons I’ve done, along with some that others have done. If you click on any of the links, below, it will open up in a new browser window, so you can look at two or more charts side-by-side:
http://www.alkalinewaterplus.com/athena-tyent-life-water-ionizer-comparisons [This series of tests was done by Tyent's Rob Gray. He thinks the Tyent won the comparison testing, however his tests actually show that all three water ionizers came out about the same as each other at the only level he tested...which was the highest level of each water ionizer.]
I will look for other water ionizer comparison testers out there and include them in this blog post if and when I find some good ones, but so far, according to my calculations, I’m the best, most scientific and comprehensive water ionizer comparison tester so far. What’s better about my water ionizer comparisons is the thoroughness. I don’t mind other water ionizer comparison testers…I welcome them. They are all adding to the broad knowledge that’s being collected about alkaline ionized water and finding out which are the best water ionizers. Obviously many things could be improved about my videos, such as have a laboratory do the various tests and film them doing them. But that costs a lot of money to do, so it will have to wait for another day.
Today’s NY Times article announcing the discontinuation of Eli Lilly’s clinical trials of an experimental drug for reducing plaque in the brains of Altzheimers patients came as a great dissapointment to people looking for a cure for Altzheimers. See full NY Times article: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/18/business/18lilly.html?ref=health
Not only did this drug fail to help the Alzheimers patients it was tried on, but compared to the control group [who were given a placebo] the experimental patients did worse.
What the NY Times article failed to mention was that there is still hope for Alzheimers’ patients.
Small groups of researchers are out there actually making headway. But their good news seems to never reach the major news media’s headlines. Here a few of the many videos and links to a group making what appears to be significant headway in the right direction with Alzheimers. Whether or not they are the full answer remains to be seen, but one thing I know is if it were me, I’d go to one of the obviously more successful researchers, below, for help.
Perispinal Etanercept is a treatment which has been used experimentally now since 2007. It is some kind of imunosuppressant drug administered to the base of the brain which inhibits the inflamation associated with Alzheimer’s Disease. The results look amazing and instant. I’m including a few of their clinical trial videos here for you to see with your own eyes. I hope more will come to light soon about this obviously successful and hopeful treatment, especially now since Eli Lilly has apparantly failed so miserably.
The full information about the group running the trials, shown in the videos below, is:

Both the Athena Water ionizer and the Melody Water Ionizer are two of my favorite water ionizers for many reasons. But in this post I’m going to focus only on testing and comparing these two great water ionizers. I have compared them both in the past, but it’s been a while since I’ve done any water ionizer comparison testing. In the meantime my testing skills have gotten better as well as my overall knowledge, so when I had the opportunity to test these two great water ionizers up against each other today I took it.
The Athena and Melody Water Ionizer Thoroughly Tested in Every Way
To thoroughly compare the Melody water ionizer with the Athena water ionizer, I’ve done two complete sets of testing at every level: lowest acid level, plus levels 1, 2, 3, and 4. To see all of the testing, watch the following three water ionizer comparison videos, below, then read the charts and analysis that follows.
How to Compare Water Ionizer Testing Results:
There are two ways you can look at water ionizer comparisons. You can either just look at the numbers, and reason out which is the better water or you can apply a scientific formula to it to actually compare the two ionizers more scientifically. First I’m going to show you just how to look at the numbers and compare them. I’ll coach you through this:
Look at Level 3 for Test 1, below. See how the pH is 11 for both ionizers? Also notice that the ORP is hugely more negative for the Athena. That means that per level of pH the Athena is producing more ORP.
If you do further investigation you’ll see that the Athena is the better water ionizer for Levels 3 and 4 [the levels people usually drink at], while the Melody is better for Level 1. Level 2 is a draw.

Scientifically Comparing Water Ionizers:
To scientifically compare water ionziers you need to understand the term, rH [relative Hydrogen], and how important it is to comparing water ionizers. So many people would look at numbers, like the Test 1, Level 1 results, above, and say that 10.2/-422 was better. When in fact, the 9.4/-383 is really a little better. You just can’t look at those particular numbers and figure it out easily. Therefore it’s helpful to have a formula to help you do that. RH is simply a measure of negatively charged Hydrogen per unit of pH in your water. The smaller the number [closer to zero], the better [healthier & more anti-oxidizing] the water is.
The formula for rH is: rH = (ORP + 200) / 30 + 2 * pH
On a scale from 0 to 42, above 28 is oxidizing (higher potential to damage the closer it gets to 40) and below 28 is reducing (anti-oxidizing)…the lower [closer to zero] the better. RH is the best measure of the healthiness of that ionized water.
Both water ionizers give you healthy water and perform well. They are both very hydrating and anti-oxidizing. The Athena is better at levels 3 and 4, which are the levels people mostly drink at, so the Athena is worth the extra money [in my opinion].
Normal tap water is the reverse, it’s oxidizing [up around an rH of 32]. Any water below an rH of 28 is good water to drink, healthy, hydrating, and anti-oxidizing. You can read more about the history of rH at this link: http://h-minus-ion.vpinf.com/rH-score-1.html
I have calculated the rH of all test results, above, and show them in the following chart. The smaller the number [closer to zero] the better. Anything below an rH of 10 is a fantastic result. Actually anything under an rH of 20 is very good. Take a look at what happens with the Athena results right around Level 3. The rH makes a significant leap in value [almost double]. That’s why I like to drink my ionized water from the Athena at Level 3. At first I just intuitively liked the water best at that level, but after scientifically analyzing it I can see the rH score is so much better too.

A friend of mine emailed me a set of 20 unique uses for Bounce [dryer sheets] that have some usefullness, so I’m passing it along:
It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them. It also repels mice.
Spread sheets around foundation areas, or in trailers, or cars that are sitting and it keeps mice from entering your vehicle.
It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don’t get opened too often.
It repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.
Eliminate static electricity from your television (or computer) screen.
Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling..
Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.
To freshen the air in your home – Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.
Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.
Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through a sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.
Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.
To freshen the air in your car – Place a sheet of Bounce under the front seat.
Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean. The anti-static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food and the pan.. Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.
Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract all the lose hairs.
Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds. Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.
Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.
Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper. Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.
Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.
Put a Bounce sheet in your sleeping bag and tent before folding and storing them. It will keep them smelling fresh.
Wet a Bounce sheet, hose down your car, and wipe lovebugs off easily with the wet Bounce.

The hundreds of stories I hear, about alkaline ionized water, combined with my own experience of drinking alkaline ionized water for about 18 years, give me a unique perspective on nutrition, health, and dieting. In addition to having so much experience with my favorite nutritional booster [alkaline ionized water] I’ve also spent hundreds of hours of my free time over the years studying nutrition, health and dieting as a science. So, today’s blog is all about my personal thoughts and suggestions for…
Nutrition, Health, and Dieting as it relates to Alkaline Ionized Water.
Keep in mind that I’m not providing you with medical advice, just plain common sense as seen through my experienced eyes.
1st Piece of Advice: Drink Alkaline Ionized Water!
2nd Piece of Advice: Use Moderation
Moderation is important for both nutrition and dieting. I have a stable nutritional rule that works real well for me, and I’ll share that with you.
If it tastes so good “you can’t only eat just one” then stay away from it.
[Background: I might be dating myself, but remember that old "Lays Potato Chips" ad? The one where someone says, "it tastes too good to eat just one"? What a great advertisement for promoting addiction that ad was! With a slight variation I have it worked out for myself as a perfect mantre for helping me become aware of the worst things for my body: If it tastes so good "you can't only eat just one" then stay away from it.]
What is the cause of overweight?
Much of it boils down to poor nutrition, of course your body needs a certain amount of exercise, but in the short term over-weightness is related to a series of wrong choices of food consumption. Foods that don’t satisfy you are wrong choices of food to eat. Foods that are too tasty are probably also wrong choices if they are addictive in their tastiness.
Examples of Good Choices:
Ionized water [in abundance]
Whole, un-cooked, and un-juiced, veggies and fruits [in abundance]
Whole grains [in moderation]
Balance in foods consumed over the course of a day [proteins, carbs, etc.] [in moderation]
Poor Nutrition leads to poorer nutrition, and eventually poor health of course. It also can lead to obesity.
Examples of Poor Choices:
Soft drinks
Sugary foods
Refined Carbohydrates [or carbs in over-abundance]
Over-cooked vegetables [like what you get in cans]
Over-cooked meats [or meat in over-abundance]
Fats [in over-abundance] [chips, fries...]
To ensure good nutrition I suggest the following:
Drink plenty of alkaline ionized water. This will hydrate you, help get rid of toxins, help to protect your cells from free-radical damage [oxidation], give you more energy, and much more.
Don’t buy foods that are too tempting
Save your money and eat at home [rather than tempting fast-food places]
Limit the poor choices to none or almost none [depending on your will-power*].
*Surprising Insight into Will-Power: What I have found about will-power is that it actually takes less will-power to have none of certain foods than it does to have just a little of it. So if you think your will-power is low, then choose none of the poor-food-choice category. It’s easier to stick to. Sugary foods are an example of that kind of food for me. What I have to do is simply have none in the category of sweets whenever I want to lose weight. Whole, un-juiced and uncooked fruits are okay, but even allowing a little bit of refined, sugary foods opens the door [for me] for over-indulgence in the sweets department. If it’s any consolation, though, it takes about 3 days for your body to adjust to a new diet routine. If it’s a healthy diet routine, you should be on easy-street [in the cravings department] once your body adjusts to it.
Another Surprising Necessity Related to Losing Weight …
Is… to eat. Starving triggers the body’s mechanisms to store fat. You don’t want to trigger that. So eat. But eat in moderation.
So, If you are attempting to lose weight I suggest the following:
Eat. Do not not-eat. Do not starve. But, make sure to make good choices [see above] in what you eat.
Use moderation.
Drink lots of alkaline ionized water. [Advice for drinking ionized water: If you are mixing it with sweeteners, then do this in moderation. Don't do it with every glass. Do not heat the water...or if you do, then heat it infrequently. Heating loses most of the ionization benefits right away. Try to drink the ionized water fresh rather than hours old. Try to not blend or whip the ionized water. That causes you to lose much of your ORP [antioxidant benefits].]
Poor choices for mixing with ionized water.
Crystal-Lite
Cool-Aid
Good choices for drinks made with ionized water.
Squeeze a slice of fresh lemon, sweeten with Stevia, and mix slowly.
Steep a green-tea bag in room-temperature ionized water and sweeten with Stevia. Mix slowly.
Here are some interesting water ionizer comparisons that were all done about a year or so ago by Ronnie Ruiz. I’m re-posting this article, because it needed updating and in addition to that it contains important information for anyone considering to purchase a water ionizer. Ronnie states in his introduction to the video series that all of the water ionizers come out very similar in their numbers [i.e., pH & ORP] and I believe that’s true, too, with my own testing and with the testing I see here in Ronnie’s videos. I also agree with Ronnie that not all water ionizer companies are tried-and-true. So, just because a water ionizer gets good results in pH and ORP that shouldn’t be the only test of a good water ionizer. If you look at the bottom of this post you can find out more about the different water ionizer companies.
In the following three videos and chart you can see comparisons between the Melody, Chanson VS 70 and the Enagic water ionizers. These are all clearly good water ionizers — doing the job that water ionizers should do.
Comparing the Melody, Enagic and VS70 Water Ionizers
Though I’ve indicated a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the chart above, really these are all good water ionizer results. Keep in mind that the ionized water drinking levels are not being tested here. The rH [Relative Hydrogen: Indicator of drinking water quality] is almost too close to call. On a scale of 0 to 42, an rH closest to 0 is the best. In the case of this test series that puts the VS70 as having a better drinking quality of water than the Enagic, but really the Melody, Enagic and VS70 are all exceptional in their drinking water quality.
You can also see that the low-acid pH is very close between the Enagic and the VS70. The Melody’s low-acid is perfect for beauty water or watering plants, but I don’t know if it would kill germs. The Enagic and VS70 low-acid water would kill germs. The only thing with the Enagic, though, is that to get that low acid, you need to continually supply your ionizer with saline solution. That gets expensive, but then the Enagic is expensive, comparatively, anyway.
Ultimately, the stability of a water ionizer company can be seen in its certifications:

Whenever I’ve compared the Venus Water Ionizer with the Melody, KYK, Tyent, etc. it has always tested a bit lower than those other water ionizers in most areas. It is less expensive than the other Jupiter water ionizers, and so one would expect it to test a little lower. It is a pretty good water ionizer though. That’s why today I’m going to take a minute to tell you about the Venus water ionizer and show you some testing videos I’ve done.
The Venus water ionizer is a Jupiter water ionizer, and so has the Jupiter advantage. Here are some of Jupiter Water Ionizers’ superior attributes:
Jupiter water ionizers use the Biostone filters. Biostone filters can be purchased for city water [Biostone Plus] or for well water [or people with immune disfunctions] [Biostone .01] .
The Jupiter company is the oldest water ionizer company who is still selling water ionizers in the US.
The Jupiter water ionizers come with a lifetime parts warranty and 5-year parts/labor warranty.
Here are my testing videos:
A little story behind this testing is that a friend of mine in Phoenix bought this water ionizer but couldn’t get the acid water to go below about a 5 pH and the ionized water was a bit cloudy. He was convinced the water ionizer was no good because of this. However, in Phoenix the water is very hard plus it has a high TDS [total dissolved solids]. The combination of the extremely hard water and high TDS was just too much for the Venus and it wasn’t getting good ionization under those circumstances. However here in St. Louis the Venus water ionizer is testing great [as you can see by the videos and charted results below]. The quality of the source water makes a big difference in a water ionizer’s performance. My friend lives in an apartment and with limitations on what he can do and he isn’t in a position to be able to install a scale-block prefilter or reverse osmosis. So he exchanged the Venus for an Orion water ionizer. The Orion is able to get better ionization than the Venus in Phoenix water, so he has decided to keep the Orion. It’s not perfect, though, and the only way to really fix a problem like that so the ionizer works perfectly is to use prefilters and anti-scaling devices or a reverse-osmosis-remineralizer. Unfortunately with differing water qualities around the country some people have to do more and spend more to get their water quality straightened out.
The Jupiter Venus water ionizer isn’t as strong of an ionizer as many of the other water ionizers I sell. It doesn’t get as good ORP per unit of pH as the Melody [....which doesn't get as good as the Orion, Athena, Aquarius, or Delphi water ionizers], but in its own right it is a very good water ionizer and is worth mentioning. Here is the chart, showing the results of the above videos, and the results are not bad at all.
Water Ionizer à

I would say if you can afford to get a better water ionizer I suggest you get a water ionizer in the “best” category [better ORP per unit of pH..such as the Orion, Athena, Aquarius, Tyent and Miracle water ionizers], but in my mind there is a “near best” category [Melody, IonQuench] and a “very good” category [Venus and Eden] which are worthy of consideration especially for young and healthy families on a tight budget who don’t live in areas with very hard water. For my family and me during our first 15 years of drinking ionized water we knew only one ionizer, the old Ange water ionizer, which would test lower in comparison with any of the water ionizers we sell on my site today, and we were just as happy as we could be with it.
According to the National Cancer Institute’s own estimate, the number of new cases of colon and rectal cancer in the US for 2010 is 103 thousand and out of those cases over 50 thousand are predicted to result in death. That is definitely a very high percentage of deaths!
It is definitely not new news that colon cancer kills, but it may be new news to some people that water ionizers have helped many people [preventatively] who were well on their way to colon cancer. Here is a video devoted to the subject to the colon. Dr Shinya was the inventor of the colonoscopy, and the colonoscopy is seen in practice in this video. People starting out with unhealthy colons are directed to drink ionized water and eat an alkaline diet for a period of time. Then the colonoscopies are repeated.
The results are remarkable. The people in this video who were headed for colon cancer are clearly reversed. Their life history is now re-written all because of a simple thing like ionized water and a healthy diet. Though we may never know the exact consequence of their continued course, we can use our own judgement to see where they were headed and where they are now headed…and see these are in two different directions.
These before vs afterdrinking ionized water video clips are quite amazing.
Drinking ionized water helps to cleanse the organs [including of course the colon], and healthy organs and cells need continuous cleansing in order to stay healthy…plain and simple.
So, providing your body with alkaline ionized water on a regular basis is definitely going to help. For eighty years it has been established that cancer cannot thrive in an alkaline environment. It needs acidity in order to live and grow.
This next video offers more proof. It is a collection of film-clips on animal research that has been done. Go to the 4-minute mark of the video to see these experiments with the rats. Rats and mice were injected with cancer and they are split into two groups [one group drinks alkaline ionized water]. The experiments are more testament to the fact that cancers will not grow in the presence of an alkaline body. Cancers need acidity to thrive. It’s in Korean, so you need to read and watch at the same time.
